Mr. Egan has extensive experience in domestic and international intellectual property matters. He has assisted Fortune 500 companies, universities, small companies and individuals in protecting their intellectual property assets. His practice emphasizes strategic counseling, opinions on patent matters, intellectual property audits, due diligence reviews, the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, portfolio analyses, and clearance studies. Mr. Egan has experience in a range of technologies including: liquid crystal devices, lasers, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), inertial measurement devices (accelerometers, gyros), digital signal processing systems, semiconductor devices, semiconductor fabrication equipment, computer hardware systems, telecommunications, medical devices, optical devices, and mechanical systems and equipment.

Prior to joining Weaver Austin Villeneuve & Sampson LLP Mr. Egan was a principal with Fish & Richardson P.C. Previously, he was a principal with Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe and a partner of Flehr Hohbach Test Albritton & Herbert.

While earning his B.S. from Louisiana State University, he was on the Dean’s Honor list, and a member of both the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Societies. He earned a J.D. from Tulane University Law School, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board graduating cum laude.
