Scott McMillan’s practice encompasses patent procurement and portfolio management; infringement, validity, and freedom-to-operate investigations; and patent portfolio evaluations for licensing and M&A due diligence. Mr. McMillan has technical experience in various areas of electronics, communication, software, and optics. Specific technologies include mobile/digital telecommunications, internet media streaming, GNSS and terrestrial positioning, circuit design and VLSI layout, optical devices and displays, computer architecture, and semiconductor design and manufacture. Mr. McMillan has worked with a wide range of clients, from solo inventors to Fortune 500 companies.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. McMillan was employed at one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies in hardware and software development. Among other things, he assisted in the design of a development platform for next-generation portable media devices. He also has been lead hardware engineer at a small media distribution company where he designed and tested multimedia kiosks.
