Zhenhai (Jay) Fu’s practice focuses on counseling clients regarding the strategic development of their intellectual property in electronics and software fields including virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning, optics and optoelectronics, semiconductor and integrated circuits, wireless communication, telecommunication, cloud computing, computer/server architecture, computer networks, signal and image processing, LIDAR/LADAR, clean energy, autonomous driving, drones, bioinformatics, DNA sequencing, medical devices, wearable devices, and social media.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Fu worked at two international law firms in their Silicon Valley offices. Prior to his legal career, Dr. Fu was a member of the technical staff at Texas Instruments. He has over 14 years of experience in developing analog, mixed-signal and radio frequency integrated circuits used in consumer electronics, telecommunication, computer network, data storage, scientific instruments, medical imaging, aerospace and automobiles. Before entering the semiconductor industry, Dr. Fu conducted research on optoelectronics, optical interconnect and communication, optical instruments, phased array antenna, micro-optical elements, holography, laser, and optical test and measurement for eight years.
Dr. Fu was recognized in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 as a Northern California “Rising Star” for Intellectual Property by Super Lawyers magazine. Dr. Fu is a U.S. patent holder, has authored and co-authored one book chapter and 24 journal and conference papers, and was a reviewer for IEEE journals on circuits and systems. While attending law school, Dr. Fu was an editor of the Santa Clara High Technology Law Journal.
