Mr. Griffith serves his clients with the strategic development of their patent portfolios. He has extensive experience with patent preparation and domestic and international prosecution. He has handled both patent reexaminations and reissues. He has expertise developing offensive and defensive patent strategies. He has mined patent portfolios, drafted targeted claims, performed field investigations, participated in reverse engineering, assisted in design-arounds, and prepared detailed analyses of patent infringement and validity issues. He has conducted patent due diligence projects related to licensing and patent purchases.

Mr. Griffith has helped clients develop patent portfolios in a wide variety of computer and electronics-related fields including computer architecture, wireless networks, discrete and integrated electronic circuitry, semiconductor fabrication, MEMS devices, flat panel displays, speech processing, image and video coding, computer software and object-oriented design, database software, cloud computing, reinforcement learning and decision making, gaming systems, and Internet-related business methods.

Mr. Griffith has served as a faculty member for the Practising Law Institute seminar, “Fundamentals of Patent Prosecution.” When earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University, he worked for the Purdue Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Manufacturing Systems in developing speech coding and noise detection systems, and he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu honor societies. He is a member of the Bay Area IP Inn of Court, the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.

Before joining Weaver Austin Villeneuve & Sampson LLP, Mr. Griffith was an associate with Mayer Brown LLP.
