Dr. Flaherty is a highly experienced patent agent with a strong technical foundation and a proven record of guiding innovators through the full spectrum of intellectual property strategy and prosecution. Having served in both law firm and in‑house roles, he helps clients strategically build and maintain patent portfolios that advance long‑term business and market objectives.

With a Ph.D. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Patent Law from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Flaherty brings scientific rigor and legal precision to every stage of the patent process.

Although formally trained as a chemist, Dr. Flaherty also brings extensive hands-on experience with mechanical systems to his IP practice. He grew up around the automotive industry, trained as an automotive mechanic, and competed as part of a quarter‑mile drag racing team. His technical background spans life sciences, chemistry, materials science, semiconductor technologies, electrochemical processes, energy, and engineering.
